Preliminary Magazine

My magazine follows most of the magazine conventions it is expected to meet. I have a picture on the front cover and this picture is a mid shot, I have used a clear 3 colour scheme (Black, White, Pale Blue). However I have added a gradient effect on the background and on some text which has created a variety of different shades of blue on the background and grey has been created on the text due to the coversion of black to white. The magazine has a clear title and mast head and includes some cover lines. The magazine also has a barcode on the front, however it does not include a date or price being as it is a school magazine produced in tutorial time and is given out free to students from the library.

The colour pallette suits the target audience because it is a common colour that is not associated with either gender this means it appeals to both the boys and girls within the school. I have chosen a brighter blue as apose to a darker one so that the colour stands out a little and catches the students eye.

The cover lines and strap line entices the audience because they are very specific to students, and more specifically teenagers. The strap line says: 'Quiz inside win money', teenagers are always looking for an easy way to get money and the word quiz sounds alot more appealing than test. They are now more inclined to grab a copy so they can take part in the quiz and try and win money. Also the cover lines are still very specific to the target audience: 'Burgers Back', teenagers are always complaining about how awfull school dinners can be however they love fast food so to find out that there school cafe is turning into there very own version of Mc Donalds is appealing to the students and they what to find out more about it so they are inclined to read.

The magazine is intended to appeal new, and regular readers. It has alot of eye grabbing colour and text to try and get the new readers to take a copy however it also has articles and a similar layout to all the versions of the magazine so that regular readers are happy it is still including the same stuff that made them read it in the first place.
